Been sick since the weekend, and with all the sleeping to try to recover and get better, I have had a chance to think and reflect on where I am now in life. I’d probably write and share some of these thoughts.

Let’s just say that with so much on my mind these days, not getting any of it out is probably going to drive me insane.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Team Fortress 2 Meet the ??? video trailers. If you somehow have no idea what I’m talking about, you can watch all 6 currently released ones below.

Now if the Microsoft session would be something like that.. that would be pretty sweet.

After running through the page somewhat, something caught my eye in the “See also” section: a link to an article named the ham sandwich theorem.

“Surely this must be a prank.”, I said. It turns out I was mistakened and the ham sandwich theorem, also known as the Stone-Tukey theorem, is a legitimate theorem that talks about dividing n objects in n-dimensional space in half with a (n-1)-dimensional hyperplane. The ham sandwich theorem is for the specific case where n = 3. If n = 2, it would be known as the pancake theorem.

Where do these people come up with these names? Mathematicians must have been quite hungry back then or something, akin to the modern poor starving student.

So anyway, go add and don’t send me useless application invitations.

Inverted Chairs

Everyone knows that the Computing Science Common Room is one of the best places to hang around thanks to the comfy couches. I walk in today after getting my morning coffee at Renaissance to see that our beloved couches were inverted so you cannot sit on them.

Rickroll’d

People entering SFU through B-Lot today found themselves rickroll’d. The guy with the TV set disappeared after an hour or so – maybe he’s going around campus or something.

On the Internet

• Google and Virgin get together to bring you Virgle: The Adventure of Many Lifetimes. They are currently looking for users to colonize Mars. If you are interested, don’t delay and apply today!
• Viewers who clicked on YouTube’s front page links got themselves rickroll’d by YouTube
• Allakhazam’s Final Fantasy XI section is known today as Hello Kitty Online with the player of the month as Evil Hello Kitty. (thanks Anto for the link)
• Curtis makes some changes to his blog. He also has a April Fools post similar to this one.
• Now if only this was actually a film in production.. I would probably pay to see it.
• Blizzard delivers this April Fools Day with two announcements:
  • Introducing the Tauren Marine for StarCraft II
  • World of WarCraft introduces the Bard class – “only a true hero can vanquish evil with the power of ROCK!”

LOLGrace – It’s like lolcats, except with someone I happen to know named Grace and features her.

I will not going into it in much detail because I do not want to accidentally ruin the message, which I believe is very true and something I absolutely believe in, even before watching the video.

Usually in the car, my dad would have control over the radio and I just follow suit because I do not really care all too much, but today as I got in the car sometime in the late afternoon, my dad starts up the car and it was playing AM 1470, a Chinese radio station and they had this radio ad on their 70s/80s music program, with various songs playing and lo and behold, they closed it with Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up and started talking about the program (and you can still hear the song in the background).

Well played AM 1470. Well played.
