The main problem that I see is that the bear’s actually behind the guy, when he’s walking the dogs.

This could indicate that the bear’s actually in predator mode. Most bears who are defensive would be quite easiy to spot, while this one sounds like she’s sneaking up on the guy.

With any bear that’s preying on you, fight. Even if it’s a Grizzly.

I use the same mnemonic as a justification for my racism! OHO!

Honestly, when faced with an arbitrary bear, my option would be to poop myself in fear. This is why I’m usually found inside, near my computer. The risk of bear attacks is low.
