Wow what a week.

Thank God this week is finally over. It’s been a busy one, that’s for sure.

A bunch of schoolwork to do, which included 8 pages or so of workbook exercises for Japanese, a Japanese midterm, writing a composition in Japanese which was a diary entry, a number theory assignment on the Chinese Remainder Theorem, and a CMPT 470 presentation on RACE. In addition to this crapload of schoolwork all due this past week, I applied for some more co-op jobs.

Outside of school though, there was that whole thing for my Scout group going to the Jamboree. Some paperwork still needed to be completed and submitted, so that needed to get handled too. Don’t get my started on the process of that.. it’s a bit…. frustrating.
Not being able to sleep well doesn’t really do me much good either, nor being able to have the time to go and have some fun through video games. But at least the weekend’s finally here and I can slack off just a bit.

Time to get some well-deserved relax time!

Motorola V3 RAZRs: Surprisingly Durable

As of late, my phone has a bad habit of falling off my belt clip. Today however, I managed to drop it on the street.

After going to the TD Canada Trust branch near my place to deposit a check, I went out and saw a bus that I could catch coming closer to the bus stop across the street from the bank. Making sure the road was clear, I made a run for it, successfully getting to the bus stop and thus, catching the bus.

Now on the bus, I somehow decided to go check my phone.

*pat* *pat*

No phone.

Crap.

Luckily, I noticed this early enough, so I got off the bus the stop immediately and backtracked to my stop, a minute or two worth of walking.

Upon reaching my stop, I noticed a small black leather case resembling the phone case, lying on the road, just where the bus would have stopped. Picking it up, I realize it is in fact my cell phone, although a bit run over, most likely by a bus, given its position.

Amazingly enough, it still worked. The only damage it took was on the mini LCD display, which is unfortunately now cracked and unusable. Of course, there’s also a small dent on the phone as well.

Maybe it’s the leather case that prevented the phone from getting destroyed or perhaps the fact that it was ran over directly by the bus, but hey, the phone still works.

On the plus side of things, my RAZR now has fairly unique identifying marks on it. That cracked LCD display is a quite a sight when lit.

Co-op Fall 2007: The job hunting starts now.

I have gotten my paperwork together and begun the long and arduous process of finding a co-op job. As of now, I have applied for two jobs, both software development jobs at Business Objects and Orbital Technologies.

Since attending this year’s OpFair at SFU and various other encounters, including an international co-op seminar, I have decided I’d like to go through my co-op terms as such:

  • One local work term
  • One national work term
  • One international work term (thinking Japan)

In addition to those companies that I have some interest in from OpFair, I am also considering seeking co-op work with CSIS or CSE, which, although rare, do exist and are quite difficult to get in due to the whole security procedures needed to get a job with those groups, for obvious reasons.

As well, something else of interest would be doing things related to system administration and networks.

Hopefully more things come up soon! I really hope my work terms will be very interesting.
